Internal Arts

Working with Energy

Woven Energy is all about broadening the human experience. Our approach to internal arts is no different: we combine a broad spectrum of internal arts together: Tai Chi Chuan, Xing Yi, Baji, Baguazhang, Liu He Ba Fa and Qigong.

Our forte is combining the internal arts together in a seamless way based on the common foundation of the eight trigrams. We use the Book of Changes (I-Ching) in a practical way as our technical manual. We teach complete martial applications for all of the arts, including both barehand and weapons training.

Tai Chi Chuan

We study two different strands of the Old Yang Style, both of which are old-school combat styles, bypassing the simplifying influence of Yang Cheng Fu and Wu Jienquan. The two strands descend from Master Wu Quanyu and Master Yang Jianhou respectively. The two long forms are both complex with Chen Style-like folding and power, though they are surprisingly different from each other.

Xing Yi

Traditional Hebei Style Xing Yi descended via several routes from Master Guo Yunshen. We cover a lot of ground, including complete animals and weapons training.

Baji

A martial art favoured by bodyguards, and descended from Master Huo Diange. Master Huo was the personal bodyguard of Pu Yi, the Last Emperor of China.

Baguazhang

A martial art derived from ancient Daoist Circle Walking (a type of Chinese spirit dance). A Qing Dynast court eunuch called Dong Haichuan created the art in the course of his work as a money collector.

Shuiquan

Water Boxing is a Daoist internal art originating from Mount Hua, the westernmost of the Five Great Mountains of China. As the name implies, it is a very fluid art.

Qigong

Sci-fi fan and mobile app developer Jeff Macki had run a variety of startup companies before, but never really found the kind of market exposure that he needed. Wanting to do things differently with his app development company, he hired B2B tech copywriter John B. to create ad copy that put him in high demand from a one-man show to a 20-developer team within two years.
